The Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) announces that members of nonprofit boards of directors and nonprofit staff serving Harrison County are invited to attend nonprofit board governance training in the beginning of 2018.

The nonprofit board training session, called Building Dynamic Boards of Directors, will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at the Harrison County Discovery Center and Wednesday, Feb. 21 at Horseshoe Southern Indiana. The training, which will be with the Leadership Harrison County class, will be 8 a.m. to noon both days.

HCCF encourages attendance at the training session because beginning in 2018, the foundation will require nonprofits that apply for funding to have at least one current board member who has completed an HCCF-approved nonprofit board governance training program.

Building Dynamic Boards of Directors is designed for participants to sharpen their knowledge of the most critical elements of nonprofit boards of directors. Participants will learn about nonprofit board development, fundraising, strategic planning, managing change, and other essential topics for nonprofits and boards. Participants will also be able to network with one another and ask questions.

Upon completion of the session, participants will receive a certificate. Each participant will need to attend both days of the session to earn the certificate.

Those interested should send a check for $200 to HCCF by Wednesday, Jan. 10 to confirm a reservation. HCCF will reimburse the individual or organization upon successful completion of the training program.

Building Dynamic Boards of Directors is presented by June Miller.  Miller is a nonprofit consultant and a Board Source certified board governance trainer with over 20 years of corporate and nonprofit training experience.
