Students in a trade or vocational program can apply for the Miles’ Fund scholarship through the Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF).
The October 2017 application is available at www.hccfindiana.org under the Nontraditional Scholarships tab. Applications must be submitted online by Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. to be considered.
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be legal residents of Harrison County, be between 18 and 21 years of age and studying in a vocational trade program. Scholarship funding may be used for tuition, books, course-related fees, required tools, uniforms or supplies. Preference is given to students who have not received funding in previous application cycles.
HCCF defines trade and vocational programs as higher learning focusing on job skills training. Most programs focus on skills taught to students who want to enter a certain career field. Trade and vocational programs usually take less than two years to complete and do not result in an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
