The Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) announces that students pursing graduate work in a qualified medical or dental school can apply for the Jessie L. and Arlie L. Fogal Scholarship.
Students must be seeking advanced degrees in medicine and/or dentistry and must have maintained a B+ average in high school. Preference will be given to applicants who have financial need and a willingness to return to Harrison County to practice their profession. Applicants must have been Harrison County residents at the time of their high school graduation.
The online scholarship application is available at www.hccfindiana.org. Applications must be submitted online by Thursday, June 15 at 4 p.m. to be considered.
The scholarship was originally established by Arlie L. Fogal in the early 1970s. Fogal was a lifelong resident of Harrison County. Although he and his wife Jessie never had children, Fogal stated in his will, “I have come to feel that all of the young people in Harrison County, and many not now so young, are about the same as my children.” As a former educator, Fogal wanted to encourage young Harrison County residents to dream big, work hard and give back to their community.
