Foundation Gives $463,000 to Projects, Agencies Gifts Total $6 million Since 1997

Wednesday, September 17, 2003The Harrison County Community Foundation has $463,083 to various projects and agencies, bringing the total to $6 million given in support of not-for-profit projects and scholarships since October 1997.
Applications for the next round of grants will be accepted after Dec. 1 and must be postmarked or delivered to the Foundation office in Corydon by 5 p.m., Jan. 15. The applications will be available after Nov. 1 from the Web at www.hccfindiana.org or by contacting the Foundation staff at 738-6668.
A two-hour grant application workshop will be Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. in the Harrison Center Conference Room in downtown Corydon. Any agency representatives who plan to attend the workshop should RSVP by calling the Foundation at the number above.
Successful recipients this fall are:
Alliance of Community Hospices Inc., $8,700 to create a Hospice office and staff in Harrison County.
Blue River Services Inc., $40,000 to buy and rehabilitate housing for low-income families and persons with disabilities.
Blue River Services Inc., $50,000 to acquire land to build a second Wyandotte House youth shelter.
Boone Township Volunteer Fire Dept., $10,000 for a feasibility study for an Emergency and Community Service Center.
Boy Scout Troop 22, $4,000 to purchase equipment.
Community Foundation of Southern Indiana, $10,000 for grant making by the Harrison County Youth Philanthropy Council.
Corydon Central High School, $14,000 to purchase library books.
Crawford County Community School Corp., $10,000 to support the CARES project at Milltown Elementary School.
Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana, $25,000 to renovate the Kornhauser Lodge at Stem Adventure Camp, Laconia.
Guerin Inc./Providence House, $20,000 to buy a multi-passenger van.
Habitat for Humanity of Harrison County, $30,000 to support the program.
Harrison County Community Services Inc., $1,667 to match a Juvenile Block Grant for Community
Systemwide Response.Harrison County Community Services Inc., $17,500 for energy conservation kits and energy vouchers.
Harrison County Community Services Inc., $2,500 to sponsor Repair Affair 2003.
Harrison County Hospital, $6,633 to purchase emergency care education equipment.
Harrison County Sheriff¹s Dept., $50,000 to buy mobile computers for patrol cars.
Harrison Education and Literacy Program, $20,000 to support the Freedom 101 seminars.
Hayswood Theatre Group Inc., $1,460 for a spotlight for the theatre.
Junior Achievement, $17,742 to support economic and financial literacy programs in Harrison County schools.
Lanesville Community School Corp., $8,000 for library books.
Lanesville Community School Corp., $26,620 to purchase a portable computer classroom.
Leadership Harrison County, $10,000 for non-profit board training.
Leora Brown School, $10,000 for partial funding for a Louisville Orchestra concert in Harrison County.
LifeSpan Resources Inc., $7,024 for matching funds for a lift-equipped van awarded by INDOT.
Mary Anderson Center for the Arts Inc., $5,000 to give 10 writers, musicians and/or visual artists the time and place to develop their creative disciplines.North Harrison Upper Elementary School, $7,939 for computers.
Our Place Inc., $6,150 for scholarships for Harrison County youth for treatment of chemical dependency.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana, $25,000 to sponsor a guest room at the Ronald McDonald House.
South Harrison Athletic Corp., $10,000 to fund architectural study/drawings for athletic fields.
South Harrison Community School Corp., $1,898 to purchase a euphonium at Heth-Washington Elementary School and a handchime set for New Middletown Elementary School.South Harrison Community School Corp., $2,250 to provide local newspapers in every classroom in Harrison County, and
Town of Lanesville, $4,000 for patrol car video cameras.
