Foundation Approves $150,000 for Scholarships
The Harrison County Community Foundation’s Board of Directors has approved $150,000 to be distributed among Harrison County High schools for scholarships to graduating seniors this year. In each of the previous three years, the Foundation has provided $80,000 for high school scholarships.
The amounts, based on the number of seniors enrolled as of Jan. 16, are: Lanesville, $17,400; South Central, $19,850; Corydon Central, $53,600 and North Harrison, $59,150.
This year, the Foundation is requiring at least 10 percent of each school’s total amount to be distributed to students entering a certified vocational training program. Individual schools determine the recipients and amounts awarded to graduates through scholarship selection programs.
Students wishing to compete for the funds should contact their high school counselor.
Graduating seniors are also reminded of scholarship programs established by the foundation that are reserved for Harrison County residents through Indiana University Southeast and the University of Louisville.
