The Regina C. Cammack Memorial Education Fund has recently been established with the Harrison County Community Foundation.

The purpose of the fund is to provide culturally enriching trips for third grade students at Corydon Elementary School, where Cammack taught for 25 years.

Cammack was a native of New Salisbury, born Nov. 25, 1942, the daughter of Nan Bott Crosby and Erskine Crosby. She was a member of Old Capitol United Methodist Church, had served as president of the South Harrison Education Association, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International, and an associate member of Tri Kappa sorority.

³In her 25 years of teaching, Regina put a great deal of emphasis on citizenship,² said her husband, Fred Cammack, ³believing that each individual¹s number one goal should be to be a good citizen.²

³Regina had a marvelous personality. She was a very giving person and a wonderful teacher. The kids loved her, and everyone who worked with her loved her, too. She passed on way before her time,² said Randy West of Corydon.

Regina Cammack lost her life to breast cancer on Dec. 4, 1989, at the age of 47. Her husband and her many friends and students created this fund.

The Corydon Elementary School also honored the devoted school teacher by dedicating the school library, the Regina C. Cammack Library, in her honor in 1990. Books were also purchased in her name and placed in a special section of the library as well as books from her personal collection.

The Foundation provided a matching gift to create this fund and any additional donation is eligible for a dollar-for-dollar match, up to $25,000.

Anyone who wishes to make a donation to the Regina C. Cammack Memorial Education Fund may contact the HCCF staff at 738-6668 or mail donations to the Foundation, P.O. Box 279, Corydon, IN 47112. Checks should be made out to Harrison County Community Foundation with the name of the fund in the memo line.
