Wednesday, December 14, 2005

At its regular monthly meeting on Dec. 5, the Harrison County Community Foundation Board of Directors elected five Harrison County residents to its board. These five will replace five founding board members whose terms expire this year. These newly-elected board members have been elected to a three-year term and each may be reelected to serve two additional terms. The new board members are:

Joyce Bliss, Central, retired from insurance sales, service and administration; Dr. Stephen Bodney, Corydon, general surgeon; Chris Byrd, Corydon, attorney; Mark Shireman, Lanesville, president of James L. Shireman Inc.; Bill Thomas, Depauw, Edward Jones Investments.

Each of these board members served on the nine-member HCCF Advisory Council throughout 2005, which gave them the opportunity to become more familiar with the Foundation staff and board of directors and the role of the HCCF in the community. "We were honored to welcome them to our advisory council one year ago, and now look forward to bringing their talents to our board of directors," said Brian Churchill, chairman of the HCCF Board Development Committee.

The board also elected the following slate of officers:  Jane Kraft, re-elected president; Qudsia Davis, vice president; Norbert Rawert, secretary, and Joel Voyles, treasurer.

The HCCF board and staff honored the five outgoing founding board members with a reception prior to the board meeting. Outgoing  members are Virgil Carpenter, Don Gossman, Rudee Rodriguez, Tom Tucker and Sally Williar. "Their nine years of dedication and leadership has helped to build the Foundation to where we are today," said Churchill. Harrison County Community Foundation looks forward to celebrating their 10-year anniversary throughout 2006.
