Another scholarship fund has been created at the Harrison County Community Foundation.
The North Harrison Football Team PEP (People Encouraging Players) Scholarship Fund will provide scholarship support to graduating seniors of North Harrison High School who have been a player or manager of the North Harrison High School football team and who has demonstrated leadership and dedication to the program.
North Harrison Football PEP is a booster club whose sole purpose is to support the football programs within the North Harrison Community School Corp.
The North Harrison Youth Football League, North Harrison Middle School and North Harrison High School football teams have all benefited from the fund-raising efforts of PEP.
In 2000 a scholarship fund was established. The scholarship fund has grown due to the fund-raising efforts of many individuals and to First Harrison Bank, which sponsors the "Half Time Kick" at all home varsity football games. Since its inception, 10 seniors have been awarded scholarships and have pursued furthering their educations at colleges and universities such as Ball State, University of Louisville, Hanover, Western Kentucky, Purdue and Indiana University Southeast.
PEP decided to endow the fund to the HCCF so that this scholarship will always be there to annually honor two members of the North Harrison High School football team who, win or lose, have made the ultimate sacrifices on the gridiron, thus demonstrating the highest levels of dedication and leadership.
Harrison County Community Foundation provided a matching gift to create this fund, and any additional donation is eligible for a dollar-for-dollar match, up to $25,000. Anyone who wishes to make a donation to the North Harrison Football PEP Scholarship Fund may contact the HCCF staff at 738-6668 or mail donations to the Foundation, P.O. Box 279, Corydon, IN 47112.
Checks should be made out to Harrison County Community Foundation with the name of the fund in the memo line.
