Have you ever thought about leaving part of your estate to your church or a scholarship fund? You need that hard-earned money you tucked away to live on in your golden years, but wouldn’t it be nice to help others right now? Maybe the Harrison County Community Foundation can help you do both.

The Foundation is sponsoring an informative evening workshop titled “The ABC’s of Giving Back to Your Community: Charitable Gifts using Annuities, Bequests and Charitable Trusts” on Tuesday, Oct. 23, from 7 to 9 p.m. Through these gift vehicles, you may be able to support your favorite charity, avoid some taxes and still ensure your financial future. Cash, stocks, bonds, retirement plans and real estate are all assets that could be used to create your legacy.

The presenter will be Southern Indiana attorney Leslie E. Vidra, who has practiced law for 28 years and is licensed in Indiana and Kentucky. Vidra concentrates her practice on preparing wills and trusts, handling probate and trust administration, providing corporate advice to family businesses on succession planning, and assisting families and nonprofit organizations with charitable gift planning.  From 1988 to 1999, Vidra served as in-house legal counsel to the Presbyterian Church USA Foundation in Jeffersonville and then as Indiana University Foundation in-house legal counsel in Bloomington.  She currently practices law with her husband, Jerry, in New Albany.

The workshop is open to all Harrison County residents, but space is limited. Call the Foundation office at 738-6668 to reserve a seat.  Light refreshments will be provided.
