The Harrison County Community Foundation School Library endowment
fund campaign raised $91,398 during the first two weeks of April.
With the Foundation double-matching the first $5,000 to each of
Harrison County’s 15 school library funds, the total amount
establishing these endowments is $257,797.

The purpose of the endowments is to provide support to the libraries
to purchase books, supplies or any other related costs.

“Our schools frequently submit grant applications to buy books for
their libraries. These endowments will help pay for these continuing
needs,” said HCCF Executive Assistant Julie Timberlake.

North Harrison Elementary was the big winner; their endowment started
with $24,044. Lanesville Elementary and Junior-Senior High School
were close behind, netting $22,210 and $22,088, respectively.

“I was thrilled to see participation from all of our school
libraries,” said Foundation Executive Director Steve Gilliland.
“There were fund-raising efforts taking place from classroom penny
drives to substantial corporate gifts.”

The Foundation continues matching dollar-for-dollar donations into
any of its 96 endowments. To learn more about contributing, the
