Comfort House recently established a permanent endowment at the Harrison County Community Foundation for the purpose of providing support for the operations and programs of Comfort House.
Established in 2004 as a Child Advocacy Center, Comfort House, which is located in Corydon, is an associate member of the National Children’s Alliance and provides services to families affected by sexual abuse. Services include a multi-disciplinary team forensic interview approach as well as the provision of a victim advocate in order to ensure appropriate referrals to counseling, etc.
The Comfort House staff is available to present information to community organizations regarding the necessity of child advocacy centers and the success of the multi-disciplinary team approach.
Comfort House personnel work as a team with law enforcement, child protection services, prosecutors and advocates. Services are primarily offered in Harrison and Crawford counties, and a satellite office is located in Milltown.
Donna Lloyd, the executive director of Comfort House, expressed her gratitude regarding the creation of the fund. “We’re thankful that the Harrison County Community Foundation offers this opportunity to organizations like Comfort House to help us maintain long-term sustainability,” she said.
The Harrison County Community Foundation provided a matching gift to create this fund and any additional donation is eligible for a dollar- for-dollar match, up to $25,000 per household per year.
