CCHS Class of ’66 Creates Scholarship Fund

Upon the suggestion of a classmate, the Corydon Central High School Class of 1966 recently created a scholarship fund at the Harrison County Community Foundation.
The fund will provide one-time scholarships to graduating CCHS seniors who are accepted into and attend a certified vocational training program or an accredited two- or four-year private or public institution of higher education.
There were 146 graduates of the CCHS Class of ’66, and their 40-year class reunion was held in May 2006 at the Eagles Club in Corydon. This is where the idea and planning of this scholarship began.
The Class of ’66 wishes to set an example and encourage other classes and graduates to create similar scholarship funds for their schools. Class members said they feel this is a wonderful way to give back to the community and set a graduating senior on a continuing education path.
This is the 100th designated charitable fund to be created at the Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF). The HCCF provided a matching gift to create this fund, and any additional donation is eligible for a dollar-for-dollar match, up to $25,000. Anyone who wishes to make a donation to the Corydon Central Class of ’66 Scholarship Fund may contact the HCCF staff at 738-6668 or mail donations to the Foundation, P.O. Box 279, Corydon, IN 47112. Checks should be made out to Harrison County Community Foundation with the name of the fund in the memo line.
