Church Transfers 2 Funds to Foundation

THE CORYDON DEMOCRAT

Wednesday, August 10, 2005

Two charitable funds of the Corydon Presbyterian Church (CPC) have been transferred into the Harrison County Community Foundation.

The Cedar Glade Fund will provide support to the Corydon Presbyterian Church in delivering assistance to needy persons and youth who live in Harrison County. The Cedar Glade Foundation was established in May 1990 with a bequest by the late Thomas McGrain to the CPC.

The Corydon Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund was established to provide support to the Corydon Presbyterian Church. Family members often request donations to the church in lieu of flowers at funerals. Income from these gifts will be used for projects and items beyond normal administrative expenses.

The Corydon Presbyterian Church, with more than 200 members and located on S.R. 62 in west Corydon, was founded in 1819.

"Moving these funds to the Foundation just made good sense," said CPC Treasurer Gerry Eckart. "They charge no administration fees, and certainly the matching funds make the Harrison County Community Foundation an obvious choice."

"We are again thrilled to work with Corydon Presbyterian on the creation of these funds," said HCCF Executive Director Steve Gilliland. "CPC members are constantly out in the community helping others through programs such as Habitat for Humanity and Repair Affair. The CPC was also the founder of our Harrison County Community Services Fund established in July 2000."

Anyone who wishes to make a donation to these funds may contact the HCCF staff at 738-6668 or contact the Corydon Presbyterian Church directly at 738-3929.
