An anonymous donor has generously created a fund at the Harrison County Community Foundation to support the Harrison County 4-H program.
The 4-H program is a community of young people ... across America ...
who are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. The Indiana 4-H Mission Statement is to help youth and volunteers in their development through experiential educational programs using the knowledge and educational base of Purdue University, the land-grant University of Indiana and the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture.
Harrison County Extension Educator Linda Abner said, “The future of Harrison County and Indiana is obviously in our youth. The 4-H program is a vibrant organization which helps youth realize their potential and explore the world. It is an amazing opportunity to be able to support the interests of the members and help them reach their goals.”
In Indiana, 4-H is offered in all 92 Indiana counties, and is the largest youth organization in the state, with more than 7,300 clubs and school enrichment programs (administered by the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service). There are 300,000 active members and 20,000 adult volunteers. There are more than a million alumni.
In Harrison County, there are 20 4-H clubs, 346 members, 110 Mini 4-H and Cloverbud members, and 142 adult volunteers.
The Harrison County Community Foundation provided a matching gift to create this fund and any additional donation is eligible for a dollar- for-dollar match, up to $25,000.
Anyone who wishes to make a donation to the Harrison County 4-H Fund may contact the HCCF staff at 738-6668 or mail donations to the Foundation, P.O. Box 279, Corydon, IN 47112. Checks should be made out to Harrison County Community Foundation with the name of the fund in the memo line.
