The Harrison County Community Foundation Board of Directors has again approved $300,000 to be distributed among the four Harrison County high schools for scholarships to graduating seniors this spring.

Since the first announcement in 1998, the Foundation has now provided $1,440,000 for local high school scholarships.
The amounts provided to each school scholarship program were based on the reported number of seniors enrolled as of Jan. 7, 2005. Amounts awarded are: Lanesville $27,791; South Central $44,893; North Harrison $104,751; and Corydon Central $122,565.

The Foundation requires at least 10 percent of each school¹s total amount be distributed to students entering a certified vocational training program. The minimum that will be awarded to any recipient is $1,000.
Individual schools¹ scholarship selection programs determine the recipients and amounts awarded. Students who desire to compete for these funds should contact their high school counselor.

The Foundation also reminds graduating seniors of scholarship programs established by the Foundation that are reserved for Harrison County residents planning to attend Indiana University Southeast, Bellarmine University, Ivy Tech State College, Spalding University, and the University of Louisville. More information is available from the college Financial Aid offices or www.hccfindiana.org.

" Our residents continue to create new scholarship funds each year," said Foundation executive director Steve Gilliland. "With up to $25,000 offered for a dollar-to-dollar match, the Harrison County Community Foundation is the best option for businesses, families or individuals to create a personalized scholarship fund."
